The South African Secular Society has gone from being just a few non-believers planning an organisation to a thriving, but small operation that engages with media, the public and non-religious people and groups around South Africa. At the moment our leadership team is doing all the work, and because we are part time volunteers, we can’t get everything that we would like to do done in a meaningful time frame.
For this reason we are reaching out to the South African secular community for volunteers. We’ve identified some positions that we would like to see people take on. All the positions are unpaid, part time volunteer positions, and as such your participation must be a labour of love and passion for the cause. We have a unique opportunity to improve the world around us and we are extending an open invite to everyone who would like to be part of that.
Below are some positions we’ve identified. If you are interested we would love to hear from you.
- Multimedia Designer / Graphic Designer
- Community Coordinator
- Accounting / Auditing Officer
- Fund Raiser
- IT Support / Web Admin
If you have another skill that you would like to contribute to SASS, we are open to any suggestions too! Our list is far from exhaustive, and we can always use more help. If you want to run a meet up in your area we would also love to get you on board.
In order for you to work with the SASS leadership team, you will need to have a stable and reliable internet connection, as we work predominantly with a virtual office and plan and do our meetings online. Unfortunately at this time we would also prefer people who are 18 and older and have their own transport, because we don’t currently have any programs that will make volunteering for younger people easy and some work may require getting around independently.
If you are interested, please send an e-mail to email@example.com with the subject “Volunteer position” and the role you are interested in and give us your motivation for wanting that role and how you plan to contribute.
We are looking forward to working with all of you!
